How do I turn off the Video Accelerator?

Video Accelerator is a feature that allows you to view some videos online on Web pages such as YouTube more quickly than with regular dial-up. However, you may experience some loss of video quality as a result of the acceleration.

You can temporarily disable NetZero HiSpeed 3G by right-clicking on the NetZero HiSpeed 3G speedometer icon in the system tray on the lower-right of your screen, (or clicking on the word HiSpeed 3G on the NetZero HiSpeed 3G toolbar) and choosing Turn HiSpeed 3G Off.

The speedometer icon and HiSpeed 3G toolbar will become greyed out and the word OFF will also appear in the NetZero HiSpeed 3G toolbar.

NetZero HiSpeed 3G can be later re-enabled from the same menu, if desired. It will also be automatically re-enabled the next time you log on to NetZero.

To permanently turn off the video accelerator, you will need to add the Web site that streams the videos to your exclusion list.

  1. Right-click the NetZero HiSpeed 3G speedometer icon.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click the Speed & Image Quality tab.
  4. Click on the Click Here to exclude sites from being accelerated link.
  5. To exclude a Web site and all its associated pages, type the domain of the address (i.e. http://www.youtube.com) into the text box.
  6. Click Add to add the site to your Excluded Sites list.
  7. Click OK.
The site(s) you entered will now be excluded from NetZero HiSpeed 3G acceleration
